Philosophy Of Photography

How do you view photography?

As subjective as any art-form, photography serves to keep memories alive, even many years after those people depicted have past away.

Photography, as much a science as an art, can be a powerful way to promote and showcase something. For me, it is the perfect vehicle to showcase our humanity. Photography can be all these things, and so much more.

With a background in health, I feel photography can also provide the opportunity for therapeutic outcomes. Indulging yourself in having a photoshoot, having a tangible aid in remembering loved ones and great life moments, enjoying an image as art and having a dialogue about it's context and how it impacts you emotionally...all these aspects of photography nourish your soul and enhance your life.

On this site I simply want to share my photographic work with you. They might be of me, my surroundings, people in my life...but they are all my work, taken by me.

I tend to be drawn to portraits and especially street photography. I am fascinated by people, their expressions, their interactions and how someone's humanity can be seen and documented in magical moments which many see as simply mundane and "usual".

Street photography opens a door for me to see the extraordinary in the ordinary.

There are many aspects of "people photography" that draw me in. It is a vehicle of self-discovery for me - on many levels. I see myself reflected in others' images - their eyes, their gestures, their reactions. Photography lends itself for me towards seeing what we as a global family (humans) have in common and how our differences compliment each other.
